Boho Steampunk Cross & Gryphon Pendant Necklace Peridot Chrysocolla Quartz Onyx Mixed Metals

Hand made one-of-a-kind artisan Steampunk Cross & Gryphon Necklace from Fit Of Pique. The pendant measures 3" long x 2-1/8" with antiqued brass cross overlaid on an antique white porcelain Borel & Courvoisier pocket watch face. The center has 3 stacked brass gears in the center and there are 5 small 3 mm natural Peridot round cabochons studding the piece as well as small hand cut "tiles" of antique china. On the reverse, the clock face has been gold leafed with 18K gold as a background for the silver gryphon metal stamping. The necklace is comprised of chrysocolla quartz and matte black onyx beads. The necklace measures 20", not including the pendant. The closure is a hand carved fine silver .999 hook and eye that has been patina'd in antique gold to coordinate with the cross. A perfect adornment for any Boho fashion.


A word about the symbolism of this piece. As I designed it, I had thoughts about the impact of technology on the church, positive and negative. The use of the Gryphon on the back of the pendant speaks to the deep association of this mythical creature with the Church. Peridot is prominent in the Old Testament as a symbol of purity. Chrysocolla is considered a stone of communication. And Onyx is mentioned more than any other stone throughout Scripture
