The Cutleaf Coneflower, aka Rudbeckia laciniata, is a large decorative and edible flower with radiating yellow petals around a greenish brown center. The base is comprised of mounding large leaves which are deeply cut (hence the name) From that long stems shoot out which can grow to 9 ft. My 2-year-old plant is over 5 feet. The flowers have a citrus flavor. Because it is edible you want to be sure to grow organic plants and do not feed to pets who may be sensitive. Once established it is not fussy in the least and tolerates the muggy summers and Fall here in North Carolina. Pollinators (including butterflies) love this plant. It can reproduce by rhizome or seeds, though you may have to fight the birds (especially goldfinches) for the seeds. 100 Seeds.
