Winter Honeysuckle (Lonicera purpusii) is the sign in my garden each year that Spring has arrived. Not to be confused with other Loniceras, this one is a deciduous semi-evergreen shrub that blooms weeks before other Spring bloomers, while most of my garden is still huddled under their winter blankets. Delicate white blooms reminiscent of cherry blossoms, with an intoxicating fragrance. And attracts early honey bees. Offered here is a rare off shoot from my antique shrub, here since the house was built in 1927. It is a bush, not a vine and I didn't know what it was until I used one of these cool new apps to identify. I have long admired it, but only when I lifted a long branch that had set roots in the soil could I lift and pot up. It has lush roots and greenery, as shown. Only one. Organic. Delightful.
