Aquilegia Canadensis or American Columbine is a native treasure which Thomas Jefferson grew at Monticello. Known for the spurred flowers and bi-coloration of red and yellow it has actually been documented as long ago as the 17th Century. The stems are red and the pretty scalloped green basal leaves form a mound from which the tall 20" shoots with delicate flowers grow.They love a partly sunny woodland setting. They are one of the first flowers in my garden in the Spring and are known to attract hummingbirds. They will proliferate but are not invasive. Hardy to zone 3. Perennial. You will receive one healthy substantial bare root plant in moist medium.
