BLUE BACHELOR BUTTONS (Centaurea cyanus), also known as Cornflower, was brought to America from Europe in the 17th century and known to have been cultivated by Thomas Jefferson in his gardens at Monticello. It is a nostalgic favorite from my childhood as well, as it grew in great patches in the cow pastures around our house. The plants will bloom throughout the early summer and this well-maintained heirloom strain is ALL BLUE. Extremely easy to grow and dries well. Use the petals as a dazzling edible garnish. Self-seeding hardy annual grows 2-3' tall. 50 seeds.

GROWING TIPS: Just sprinkle seed after danger of frost and cover lightly. Plant in an area where these wonderful heirlooms can self-sow year after year, bringing electric blue to your ornamental border or naturalized landscape.

CherryGal has been providing Organic, non-GMO, Heirloom seeds to the home gardener since 1999. Seeds are either certified organic, or organically grown in my organic garden using sustainable organic practices. Seeds are not treated and are fresh to the year indicated in the title. Packets are small because we want each gardener to be able to afford a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. By growing such a variety, you will be attracting pollinators and adding to the beauty and enjoyment of your backyard garden.
